Mary Arledge

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Arledge, 98, of Gilmer, TX will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 2, 2019 at Croley Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Smith officiating, interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Arledge passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in Longview, TX.

Mary was born in Bluefield, WV on April 22, 1921 to the late Robert and Nettye (Wingo) Smith. Mrs. Arledge was a resident of Upshur County for 40 years, she married Joe Arledge on November 30, 1945. Mary was an active member of the Garden Club, Friends of The Library, TEEA, the exercise club at the First United Methodist Church of Gilmer where she was a faithful member. She also volunteered her time as a “Pink Lady” at the local hospital.

Mrs. Arledge is survived by her sons, Joe Arledge, Jr. of Dallas, and Scott Arledge of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter, Kathy Daniels of Gilmer; grandchildren, Elizabeth Skully of Tyler, Bill Daniels and his wife, Delaine of Tyler, Vanessa Deaton and her husband, Doug; great grandchildren, Emme, Tate, Jackson, Allison, and Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nettye Smith; husband, Joe Arledge; three brothers; and two sisters.
