Max Billie McPeek

Services for Mr. Max B. McPeek, 86, of Gilmer will be held 11:00 A.M, Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David L. Jenkins and Larry W. Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at Enon Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. McPeek passed away on Tuesday December 21, 2010 in Gilmer. He was born April 8, 1924, in Upshur County, Texas to Benjamin Earl and Ouida Ray McPeek. Mr McPeek served as a Pilot in the U. S. Air Force; where it began his longtime enthusiasm for airplanes. He graduated from the SMU School of Banking, was the Past President of the Gilmer Rotary, an avid golfer and he enjoyed traveling after his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer and retired as President after working 42 years for Gilmer National Bank. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Ray McPeek of Gilmer; daughter, Elaine McPeek Stewart and her husband, Steve of Gilmer; grandchildren, Abby Stewart of Gilmer, Rachel Stewart of Austin. Mr. McPeek was preceded in death by his son, David Mark McPeek; brother, Travis McPeek and sister, Rachel Roebuck
