Melvin D. Maxwell

Mr. Melvin D. Maxwell, Sr., age 79, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at his home in Ore City.
Melvin was born in Marion County to the late John Everett Maxwell, Sr. and Mildred Nell Wyatt Maxwell. Melvin retired from the oilfield industry, and was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church. He spent his free time raising cows, mules and other animals, leatherworking. He was a great cook, and a die-hard fan of America’s Team, the five-time super bowl champion Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 49 years, Betty Payne Maxwell in 2017; sons, Gordon Lynn Maxwell in 2011, Melvin Maxwell, Jr. in 2020; brothers, Buddy Wayne Maxwell, and Travis Lynn Maxwell.
He is survived by sons, Bryan Maxwell of Ore City, Chris Maxwell and wife Shanna; brothers, John E. Maxwell, Jr., and wife Pat of Gilmer, Ray Maxwell of Gladewater; sister, Judy Mills and husband Charles of Gladewater; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Sandhill Cemetery, with Bro. Pat Shannon officiating.
