Milburn Shelton

Funeral service for Milburn Shelton, 91, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Marion Palmer and Michael Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Shelton passed away Friday, November 10, 2017.

Mr. Shelton was born June 26, 1926 in Upshur County, TX to Archie Leonard and Vennie Irene Fleet Shelton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired mechanic with Lone Star Steel and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilmer.

He is survived by his daughters, Marian Bassham and husband, Chuck of Gilmer and Angie Sowell and husband, David of Gilmer; brother, Archie “Jr..” Shelton of Longview; grandchildren, Carrie Leal and husband, Jack and Mandy Turner and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Atticus Jackson Leal, Ava Leigh Turner, Ellie Turner and Judah Leal, and survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shelton is preceded in death by his wife, Wynema Shelton; and grandson, Christopher Keith Bassham, five sisters, and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jason Turner, Ardis Mitchell, Larry Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Pat Mitchell, and Terry Edney.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Mitchell, Jack Leal, Brandon Jones, Mike Mitchell, Dennis Johnson, Sr., Darrell Jones, and Thomas Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Gilmer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 p.m. until service, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
