Nellie Marie Irby

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nellie Marie Irby, 86, of Longview, Texas, will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater in the chapel with Reverend Scott O’Rear officiating. Interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater. Nellie passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Longview, Texas.

The Family will be receiving friends at Croley Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8, 2018 beginning at 4:00 p.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m.

Nellie was born on March 23, 1932 in Center, Texas to the late Gerome Mills and Bertie Jones Mills. She married Ben E. Irby and they had 66 wonderful years together and were blessed with three beautiful children. Nellie loved her family dearly and never missed an opportunity to have Sunday dinner ready for them, at the end of each week. The family especially looked forward to her chicken fried steak and cherry pie, because they knew she made the best they ever had. Nellie was always known for being there to help and support her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s in all of their activities. She was a talented Seamstress and enjoyed being a member of the Oak Forest Women’s Golf League. She would occasionally sneak in a Soap Opera here and there, when she wasn’t too busy. Nellie was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who will always be in the hearts of her family and friends, she will be truly missed.

Nellie is survived by her husband Ben E. Irby; son Glenn Earl Irby and wife Lori of Mansfield, Texas; daughters Sheryl Lynn Marshall and husband Randy of Oakdale, California, Gay Nell Tucker and husband Dan of Longview, Texas; brothers Johnny Mills of Gladewater, Texas, Charlie Mills and wife Judy of Big Sandy, Texas; grandchildren Mandy Jameson, Missy Gonzalez, Trista Roel, Dustyn Marshall, Ashtyn Irby, Devon Irby, and 15 great grandchildren, as well as numerous other family and lifetime friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Alfred Mills, Billy Mills and sister Doris Berry.
