Funeral services for Peggy Davis, 72 of Longview will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Longview with Dr. Roy James and Mary Collier officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral HHHHHHome in Gilmer. Mrs. Davis passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, in a Longview hospital.

Mrs. Davis was born March 6, 1942, in Abbeville, LA., to Vivian and Geree Burcalow Patterson. Vivian Patterson was killed on Okinawa during World War II when Peggy was two years old. Her stepfather, Wink Patterson was always Daddy to her and Papa to her son. Peggy graduated from Union Hill High School and East Texas State University. She married her high school sweetheart Don Davis September 1, 1961. Peggy taught English at Forest Park Jr. High, Longview High School and New Diana High School where she was an inspiration to all of her students and fellow teachers alike. Peggy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was always cheerful and energetic in spite of her physical limitations. Her lively spirit and sparkling personality will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Milton Donald Davis; her son Milton Darrell Davis and wife Terri, of Keller, TX; grandchildren, Haley Grace Davis of Denton and Grant Adams Davis of Flower Mound; brother, Gary Patterson and wife Amy of Gilmer; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Grant Davis, James Jenkins, Don Hines, Bob Holcomb, David Pierce and Patrick Patterson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dewey McKinney, Maurice Cook, Mike Owen and Doug Martin.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
