Rene Morris

GILMER – Graveside services for Mrs. Rene Morris, 82, of McKinney, Texas formerly of Gilmer will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Grice Cemetery in Upshur County with Bro Ray Thompson officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home-Gilmer. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the funeral home from 1:00 until service time. Mrs. Morris passed away on July 16, 2017, in McKinney, Texas.

She was born on October 22, 1934, in Gilmer, Texas, to Bill Melton and Jesse Hawkins Melton. Rene married Tom Lacy Morris on June 16, 1952, in Hope, Arkansas and was the chief deputy at the Upshur County- County Clerks’ office.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Morris of McKinney; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Dianne Morris of McKinney; grandchildren; Stephen Morris and Cindy Morris; great grandchildren, Jordan Thurman, Nicole Morris and Natalia Morris.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jesse Melton; daughter, Judy Morris and brother, Billy Leon Melton.
