Funeral services for Ruby Mae Wilson McBride Stracener 96 of Gilmer will be held August 22, 2020 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with burial at the Enon Cemetery.

Ruby Stracener passed away on August 19, 2020, peacefully after a long and blessed life. She was a lifelong resident of Upshur County, graduated from Gilmer High School and was a member of the Baptist faith. Ruby was a Beauty Shop owner, and owned and operated a state approved Children’s Day Care in her home. Ruby loved flowers and took great joy working in her flower beds.

Ruby was born 3 August 1924 on Cherokee Trace at Happy Hollow which in now under Lake Gilmer, the 3rd child of James Cleveland Wilson and Frances Merena Caldwell.

She was married in Gilmer to Henry Aston McBride 8 July 1943 son of Luther Aston McBride and Mary Magdalene Weaver McBride. Ruby was widowed 14 years later with 5 children. She married 2nd Carroll Lee Stracener 12 December 1963 in Gilmer, the son of Edward Lewis Stracener and Bama Georgia Cook Stracener. Ruby and Carroll were married 47 years at the time of his passing. She was preceded in death by husband Henry Aston McBride, 1957 and Carroll L. Stracener, 2011, two sons Henry J. McBride, 1944 and Benie D. McBride, 1947, son David Stracener, 2004, grandson Rustan “Rusty” Young, 2009, her sister Annabelle Waller, 2000, and son-in-law Don Williams, 2012.

Ruby is survived by two son and six daughters: Danny and JoAnn McBride, Kelsey; Randy McBride and Georgia Van-Ris, Austin; Mike and Patti Palmer, Holly Lake; Brenda Williams, Gilmer; Melissa Christy, Gilmer; Christy Stracener, and Mishelle Patterson, both of Gilmer and Denise Morris, Sulphur Springs.

She is survived by 17 grandchildren: Richard and Shellie Smith, Gilmer; Misti Smith and Jay Andrews of Longview; Dusty and Tina Young, Mesquite; Robbie and Kristan Propes, Kilgore; Nikki McBride, Kelsey; Aston and Pernecia McBride, Holly Lake; Corbin McBride, Kelsey; Cameron and Amber McBride, Tyler; Amanda and Josh Jaworski, Dallas; Shaun and Bonnie Christy, Gilmer; Dustin Gantt, Louisiana; Ryder L. Ward, Kelsey; Jordan N. Stracener, Gilmer; Jason Morris, Sulphur Springs; Karen Allison, Sachse; Cheryl Gonzales, Garland; and Teresa Crawford, Midland.

She is survived by 14 Great Grand Children: Will and Emily Baskerville, Gilmer; Keith and Liz Boren, Gilmer; Hayley Fulton, Mesquite; Haygan Young, Mesquite; Brantly and Emma Propes, Kilgore; Bryce, Kegan, Barrett and Kasi McBride, Holly Lake; Olivia McBride, Arkansas, Canyon Osani, Maryland; Jon Luke Jaworski, Dallas; and Justin Christy, Gilmer.
Ruby is also survived by 6 Great Great Grand Children: Briley Blair, Oliver and Elijah Baskerville, Gilmer; Rylan and Piper Boren, Gilmer, and Dax Fulton Mesquite.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Nadra and Don Smith, David and Linda Waller, Kim Wall, and Kylie and Kelvin Farmer, as well as several great, great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers for the service are Richard Smith, and Aston, Cameron, and Corbin McBride. Honorary Pallbearers are Dusty Young, Nikki McBride, and Shaun Christy.
