Sigle “Sig” Lynn Dickerson, age 82, passed away at his home in northwestern Upshur County on Friday, January 21, 2022. He was born in Dallas on May 16, 1939 to Cecil & Atteree (Scott) Dickerson. He graduated from Kemp High School in 1957.
He served in the US Army, honorably discharged at Ft. Still, Oklahoma. While in the service he specialized in vehicle mechanics. He immediately went to work for Cummins Diesel in the Metroplex. Over the years he worked as a diesel mechanic and /or diesel shop supervisor for Perterbilt, Pilgrims, Kenworth, etc.
He married in 1964. In 1972, the family moved to Upshur County. In 1995, Sig married the love of his life, Raye Nell Fincher. Cancer took Raye Nell in 2008.
Sig enjoyed the ranch style of life, loving his cattle and horses. He always kept a good riding horse or two as well as a few head of cattle. For a number of years, he was active in the Union Ridge Arena as Playday and Trail Ride Chairman. He also served as President of Ewell Service Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Raye Nell.
He is survived by a sister, Sherry Hatch; daughter: Jo Gina Dickerson; grandsons: Ray Salgado, Stephen Dube, Michael Dube; great grandchildren: Paxton Dube, Theodore Dube, Lucas Dube, Paisley Dube.
Also surviving: Kenna Prior, husband Frank and children: Clynton, Justin, Alex, Anna; Cache Dickerson and children; Chris, Lacey, Joshua, Jesse, Lindsey.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2002, at the Ewell Service Club in Union Ridge.
