Gilmer -- Services for Sonny Davidson, 68, of Longview, will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 2 P.M. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Gilmer City Cemetery.
Born on January 25, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, he died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was a Christian faith man, former employee of Strohs Can Plant, and welder and fitter by trade.
A wonderful son, father, and grandfather, he was an inspiration to everyone. A great Elvis impersonator, he loved '57 Chevrolet convertibles, fishing, being a musician, and exemplifying his Christian walk with the Lord.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Beth Sawall of Yucaipa, California; son, Phillip Jack Davidson of Gilmer; two daughters, Paula Stokesberry and husband, Scott, of Montgomery; Lisa Marie Tiffin and husband, Jeffery, of Gilmer; six grandchildren, Haley Davidson, Hunter Davidson, Jessica Stokesberry, Tristin Andrews, Lacy Tiffin, and Logan Tiffin; sister, Linda Moore of Palmer, Alabama; and his lifelong friend, Frank Odom.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Davidson; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Hall; brother, Jerry Moore; and uncle, Bruce Hall.
Pallbearers will be Michael Davidson, James Ramo, John Frazier, Rick Morris, Michael Schroeder, and Keith Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Odom and Jimmy Baker.
No visitation is scheduled.
A family and friends gathering will be held after the service at Grace Baptist Church in Gilmer.
