Tommie Jean Holmes

Funeral services for Tommie Jean Holmes, 79, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Clay Potter. Interment will be in Gilmer City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mrs. Holmes passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in a Gilmer nursing home. Mrs. Holmes was born November 9, 1931 in Upshur County to Hiller and Beatrice Strube Gibbons. She was self-employed in the chicken industry, a lifetime resident of Upshur County, and a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Charles and Randlyn Holmes of Gilmer; daughter: Carol Happel of Pasadena; grandchildren and spouses: Ed and Tammy Holmes, Charlotte Hewitt, Kim Dobrsenski, and Kelly and Darren Simpkins; great-grandchildren: Courtney, Connor, Hayden, Dustin, Lyndy, and Kaitlyn; and one great great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband: Ovie Holmes and her parents. Pallbearers will be Ed Holmes, Hayden Holmes, Connor Hewitt, David Holmes, Billy Talley, and Rickie Gipson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
