Graveside services for William Samuel “Sam” Davis, 63, of Tyler will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Starrville Cemetery. Mr. Davis passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at home.

Mr. Davis was born June 15, 1957 in Plainview, Texas to the late Raymond Jefferson Davis and Mayna Pearl Simmons Davis. Sam attended Tarleton State University. Sam worked as a Real Estate Broker and Financial Advisor. He enjoyed reading, music and spending time with his family and friends.

Sam had a heartfelt desire to teach people about Jesus. Sam believed once saved always saved. To be absent from the body is to be present with Christ. Sam was devoted to his Christian faith. He taught the Singles’ Sunday school class at Windsor Park Baptist church in DeSoto, Texas and later was the Pastor of Owentown Baptist Church. He loved to sing in church choirs and lead the singing at Owentown Baptist church. Tithing was an active obedient part of his Christian faith. Sam was one of the most generous men you could ever meet. He would give his last dime. Sam was a rich man of little means. A godly man makes an impact on the people around him, this was Sam.

Sam is survived by four siblings Cullen Jefferson Davis and wife Donna, Catherine Beth Prather and husband H.R., Raymond Lee Davis and wife Amanda and David Daniel Davis and wife Jackie; twelve nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his brother Johnathon Luke Davis.
