Winnie Lou "Me Maw" Mitchell

Funeral service for Mrs. Winnie Lou “Me Maw” Mitchell, 94, of Gilmer, TX, will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, TX with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. Winnie passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at her residence in Gilmer, TX.

Winnie was born in Gilmer, TX on December 29, 1923, to the late Jepp E. and Ora Mae (Sartain) Huggins. She married H. C. “Cowboy” Mitchell in April of 1941; she worked as a seamstress for Honey Togs in Gladewater for close to 25 years and then was served as a cook and dietician at several nursing homes in the Upshur County area. Mrs. Mitchell will be greatly missed by many friends and family members.

Winnie is survived by her sons, James Mitchell, Ronnie Gene Mitchell, Lonnie Wayne Mitchell, and Pat Corneal Mitchell; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, H. C. “Cowboy” Mitchell; sons; Colon O’Neal Mitchell, and Johnny Pender Mitchell; brother, Billy Huggins; and sister, Faye Clark

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
