Woodrow W. Wood Gladewater " Graveside services for Woodrow W. Wood, 98, of Tyler and formerly of Gladewater, will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 10 A.M. at Wood Cemetery with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Born on June 2, 1913, in Gladewater, Texas, he died on Saturday, August 13, 2011. He was the son of the late Robert M. and Bettie Bell Wood. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served during World War II. He was a graduate of Gladewater High School, retired Director of the Housing Authority in Diboll, and a longtime member of the Gladewater First Baptist Church. He is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Carolyn Wood of Irving; daughter, Betty Loyce Childress of Tyler; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Mildred Barker, Virginia Lavon Traughber, Melba Rose Clark; and brother, John Howard Wood. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Wood Cemetery Association, 1014 Chevy Chase, Gladewater, Texas 75647. No formal visitation is scheduled.
