Anna Louise Glenn

Anna Louise “Fritzy” Glenn was born May 21, 1926, in Groesbeck, TX to Clayton and Flora Bell Hickey.  She passed from this life, at age 97, on May 29, 2023 in San Antonio, TX.

As a child, her and her family moved from Groesbeck, TX to Gladewater, TX .  Fritzy and her family were founding members of the First Christian Church in Gladewater, TX where she was a member for 80 years before its closing.

She attended Gladewater High school where she performed in the band and graduated class of 1943.  On October 1, 1944 she married a fellow classmate, Richard “Frank” Glenn, Sr.  During World War II, she worked at Camp Fannin.

After the war, Frank and Fritzy lived in various places like Gladewater, Austin, San Antonio.  Michigan, Atlanta and Phoenix.  They raised 3 children, Richard Jr, Janis and Anna “Karen”.  Water skiing on Lake Austin was one of their favorite pastimes, even though Fritzy never learned to swim.

After Fritzy and her husband retired, they spent many years traveling around the country in their RV.  During many of those summers their grandkids, Garrick and Audra, would accompany them for weeks at a time visiting national parks and Civil War battle sites.

As Frank and Fritzy got older, they settled down in their hometown of Gladewater, TX where Fritzy would attend her monthly high school class reunion lunches.  Later in life, a few years before her death, she moved to San Antonio, TX to be closer to her daughter, Janis.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Flora Bell Hickey, husband Richard Frank Glenn Sr, sister Betty Sue,  her brother Harold Hickey, son Richard Frank Glenn Jr, daughter Anna Karen Brooks and son-in-law Ron McTee.  She is survived by her daughter Janis McTee, daughter-in-law Mary Glenn, grandson Garrick Brooks, granddaughter Audra Gurerro, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson.
