Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Barbara Sue McLain Moore, who peacefully passed away at the age of 78. Though we grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Barbara shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life. Together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and unconditional love. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother (Mimi), and great grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and nothing made her happier than having everyone together.

Barbara had a vibrant spirit and a joyful heart. She was loving, spontaneous, funny, and always ready to make others smile. She loved to travel, enjoyed painting, and, in a way only Barbara could, even found joy in washing dishes because caring for her home and the people she loved brought her happiness. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special, and her love was felt in countless everyday acts of kindness.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord, trusted Him faithfully, and lived as an example of His love through her kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart. Her family finds peace in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She leaves behind her devoted husband Jerry Moore of 60 years, her three children, Veronica & Skip Carnes of Longview, Kevin & Michelle Moore of Gladewater, Dana Harvey and Dan of Longview, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, with two more eagerly awaited, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Barbara’s legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and family. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and joyfully remembered.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, and may her family find comfort in the promise of John 11:25–26, where Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at East Mountain Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with a visitation being 1 hour prior to service. Interment to follow at East Mountain Cemetery.
