Billy Harvey Stegall

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Harvey Stegall, 97, of Clarksville City, will be held 2:00 P.M Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro Roger Bynog Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County.

Mr. Stegall passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, surrounded by his family in Longview. He was born on October 7, 1928, in Big Sandy, Texas to William Harvey Stegall and Iva Myrtie Creamer. On September 18, 1948, in Upshur County, Texas, he married Mrs. Annie Ruth Howell. Mr. Stegall was employed as a manager for several of the area lumber yards, including Longview and Jacksonville. Later in life he became the owner/operator of Stegall Hardware in Big Sandy. Billy was also a devoted member of Greggton Missionary Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Sharon Stegall of Leander, daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Guy Gauthier of Lake Cherokee, Charlotte and Ken Hopper of Jacksonville, Robin and Gregg Owen of Longview, Michelle and Dave Cahal of Clarksville City, brother, Eddie Stegall, 8 grandchildren, Dustin Harrell, Timothy, Susan and Kris Stegall, Sean Hopper, Katie Bailes, Lily and Kayce Cahal, 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife Annie Ruth Stegall, and sister, Bonnie Gage.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
