It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Blanchie "Pat" Ruth Stewart, who died peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 89, after a long and fulfilling life. Born on January 3, 1936, in Arkansas, Pat found her way to Big Sandy, Texas, where she created a warm and loving home for her family and impacted many through her work at Big Sandy Elementary School, Annie’s Tea Room & Gift Shop, and Strategic Fulfillment Group (SFG).
Pat was married to the love of her life, Ellis Stewart, for an incredible 70 years. Together, they built a legacy of love, laughter, and service to others. Providing food was Pat’s “love language”; she is fondly remembered for her special soups and sandwiches. Many family members and friends benefited from Pat’s love of sewing and crochet.
She is survived by her son, Jim Stewart; daughter, Liz Russell and husband Doug; cherished grandchild, Wesley Russell and wife Stephanie; and great-grandchildren, Rose and Lachlan Russell. She is also survived by her loving brother, Bob Stanton and wife Margaret, and dear sister, Becky Merager and husband Alan, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and her beloved husband, Ellis.
In honor of her life and the memories we share, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the United Church of God, 1007 N. Tyler St, Big Sandy, TX, at 3 in the afternoon. All are invited to attend the memorial and reception following.
