Bobbie Joyce Bateman Gibson

Bobbie Joyce Bateman Gibson, age 89, passed from this life to her heavenly reward on July 25, 2026, in Gladewater, TX.

She was born May 28, 1937, to Houston and Weta Bateman and grew up in Edgewood, TX. She had a gift for numbers and after graduation in May 1955, she moved to Dallas where she became a bookkeeper, a career that would span 50 years. During those 50 years, and beyond, she used her experience and knowledge to help individuals and families by preparing personal income tax returns without charge.

Anyone that knew Bobbie, knew she loved the Lord and her church. At a young age, she gave her life to Christ and served Him faithfully until the day she met Him face to face. She served as Treasurer at the Gladewater Church of God, and later Grace Crossing Church of God in White Oak, Texas, totaling over 40 years of service to the church. During those years, she also served as Sunday School teacher, Bible teacher, event coordinator and in any capacity the church needed her. She was an Ordained Minister with the United Christian Fellowship, and it was not unusual to find her in prayer or studying her Bible.

She greatly loved her daughters and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Horace Gibson, in 2022, as well as parents Houston Bateman (father), Weta Trantham (mother), Eugene Bateman (brother), Patsy Wright (sister), and Judy Foster (sister). She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Patricia Wagner (Frank) Gladewater, TX, Judy Roberts (Stanley) Winona, TX, Maggie Davis (Ray) Pittsburg, TX. Seven grandchildren, Jeremy Rich (Amanda) Flint, TX, Jason Rich (Alyssa) Pflugerville, TX, Joshua Rich, Oklahoma City, OK, Rebecca McCammon (Phillip) Salado, TX, Daniel Roberts (Laura) Winona, TX, Meagan Doyle, Pittsburg, TX, Geoffrey Davis (Taisha), Chester, MD and 13 great grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, TX with interment to follow at Gladewater Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2026, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
