Carl Arthur Sawyer, born on March 19, 1951, in Augusta, Maine, passed away on July 2, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas at the age of 74. Carl was a man of great character, whose life embodied dedication, service, and compassion for others.

A proud veteran, Carl served with distinction as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he dedicated numerous years of his life to serving in various capacities within the military. After a respected career, he retired from the Army, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and camaraderie that inspired those around him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Erick Sawyer and wife Carla; daughter, Angelique Maria Russell-Sawyer and wife Jennifer Russell-Sawyer; 2 grandchildren; half brothers and sisters, Thomas Sawyer, Carl Sawyer, Stephen Sawyer, Phillip Sawyer and Ellen Sawyer Treadwell.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Daniel Sawyer and Ruth Dorothy Rand Sawyer; half brothers and sisters Mary Sawyer Bryant, Mable Sawyer Adams, Everett Sawyer, June Fenton Wilson, George Fenton, Ruthann Fenton Staples, Thomas Sawyer, Beth Sawyer Michaud and Arlene Sawyer Libby.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas beginning at 11:00 AM.
