Obituary

Carol “Glen” Bellomy, passed away on October 15, 2026, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on December 13, 1946, in Winnsboro, Texas, to C.B. and Gladys Inez (Patterson) Bellomy.

Glen graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1965, a milestone that marked the beginning of a life rooted in commitment and care for the people he loved.

In October of that year, he enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning 12 years of service to his country. Following boot camp and specialized training at Great Lakes, Illinois, Glen served as a communications technician in San Miguel, Philippines, before receiving an assignment with the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland.

His military career also included service aboard the USS Sgt. Joseph E. Muller, an intelligence-gathering vessel that received a Navy Unit Citation during his time aboard. He later returned to Fort Meade, where he served as an instructor for three years. Additional assignments took him to Adak, Alaska, where he supported naval surveillance operations, and Winter Harbor, Maine, where he developed and taught a computer maintenance course. Glen completed his Navy service in April 1978 at the rank of E-6. His military honors included the Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.

With support from the Navy, Glen attended the State Technical Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, earning associate degrees in computer science and industrial education. He was selected as a graduation speaker and received recognition in Who’s Who publications for vocational and junior college students.

Glen brought his technical knowledge and leadership skills to a successful civilian career in the computer industry. He spent seven years with Digital Equipment Corporation, serving as an Advanced VAX Systems Program Manager and Systems Engineer. He went on to hold engineering, management, and technical support positions with Symbolics Computers, Sky Computers, Stardent Computers, GCS Computers, Ovid Technologies, and Unified Technologies. He concluded his career as a Senior Principal Systems Engineer with Symantec Corporation in New York.

On December 7, 1968, Glen married Linda in Prattsville, New York. Together, they built a loving family and raised two sons and a daughter. Glen treasured time with his family and took pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children.

His commitment to service extended into his community. Glen served as an elected district representative in Billerica, Massachusetts, and remained involved in supporting fellow veterans. He served as adjutant of the Lloyd O. Jackson American Legion Post 692 in Greene, New York, and as commander of the Virgil E. Deyo American Legion Post 1327 in Prattsville for three years. After he and Linda moved to Arabella in August 2021, he enjoyed family visits and participating in the Arabella Veterans Group. His dedication to his country, family, and fellow veterans remained an important part of his life.

He found happiness in time spent with his family and in the activities that drew them close. He enjoyed fishing and skiing with his sons, creating memories through shared adventures and time together. As an active band parent, he also shared a special connection with his daughter through band and music, supporting her interests and building a bond through those experiences. In the quieter corners of daily life, Glen loved flowers and took pride in the broad variety of blooms in his yard, surrounding his home with beauty and color.

Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda Hill Bellomy; sons, Tom Bellomy and wife Amy and Jasen Bellomy; daughter, Cheri Spinosa; brother, Tommy Joe Bellomy and wife Kathy; sisters, Muriel Inez Loftin and Linda Ellen Miller; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Bellomy, Dylan Bellomy, Christine Spinosa, Caralynn Spinosa, Catherine Spinosa and Elizabeth Bellomy.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Bennie Bellomy and Kenneth Jack Bellomy.

A memorial service for Glen Bellomy will be held on November 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
