Carolyn Smola Grooms

Carolyn Grooms, 87, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Longview, Texas. 

She was born June 11, 1937, in Berea, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Anne Smola. 

She graduated from Berea High School in June, 1955, and married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Grooms, in June, 1956. They moved to Michigan, and she became a follower of Jesus Christ in Waterford.

In 1980, she and her family moved from Michigan to Richardson, Texas. Mrs. Grooms taught children’s Sunday School for many years in Dallas. She was an avid reader; incredibly fond of her cats; and a loyal fan of NASCAR, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She crocheted numerous gifts for others over the years. 

Mrs. Grooms is survived by her son, Andrew; her two daughters, Kathleen and Marianne; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and her sister, Joann.
