Charles E Glenn

Charles E Glenn, 86, of Pritchett, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2024. Charles was born February 3, 1937, in Big Sandy, Texas to the late GW Glenn JR and Verdie Hill Glenn.

Charles retired from Vought Aircraft Companies after 28 years, where he was a night foreman over the machine shop. In retirement, he farmed and became a member, and later chief, of the Pritchett volunteer fire department, serving for 13 years. He was instrumental in bringing one of the first rural helicopter pads to Upshur County. He was most proud of his salvation. He loved to talk about the Lord and was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church. He considered the congregation his family.

All his life he enjoyed hunting, farming, and fishing. He was also a passionate storyteller. In recent years, his character “Horsefly” was featured in the Pritchett/Big Sandy column of both the Hawkins/Big Sandy Journal and the Gilmer Mirror; where he shared his wit, wisdom, and memories. For Charles, it was always family first and putting others’ needs above his own.

Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Glenn; daughter, Debra Stockstill; son-in-law, Brent Yochum; brother, Joe Glenn (Ann); sister, Kathy Adegboye; stepdaughters, Angela Sandlin (Randy), Sabrina Chesney (Chad), and Amanda Deaver (Cody); twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, GW Glenn, JR, and Verdie Hill Glenn; his first wife, Lula Mae (Susie) Glenn; his sons, Charles Russell Glenn and Richard Dorsey Glenn; his daughter, Terrie Lynn Yochum; his brother, Billy Edward Glenn; his son-in-law, Stann Stockstill; his grandson, Casey Scott Wallace; and great great-granddaughter, Megan Renee Wallace.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Longview Regional, the nurses and aids at Premier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as well as the nurses and aids at Traditions Health that took such kind care of Charles and his family.
