Charles "Kenny" Thompson

Charles “Kenny” Thompson, age 84, was born on January 9^th, 1938 in Gilmer, TX to Joe and Beulah Borden Thompson and passed away on December 7, 2022 in Gilmer, Texas. Kenny worked for TXDOT for 35 years, starting as a road hand and working his way up to a maintenance supervisor at the time of his retirement. Following his retirement, he served as a County Commissioner for 4 years. He was also a faithful member of Gilmer Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as deacon. He was a loving husband, father, Toot Toot and friend to many. He enjoyed to hunt and fish. His greatest love was to have his family around him and enjoy good conversation while sitting on the porch. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Joye Thompson of Latch; sons Timothy Joe Thompson and his wife Rhonda and Marcus Duane Thompson all of Latch. Grandchildren Jessica Paige Marrs and her husband Josh, Timothy Jacob Thompson and his wife Hollyann; as well as great grandchildren Juddson Kent Marrs, Jaycee Paige Marrs, and Everett Dean Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Beulah Thompson; brother Toad Thompson; and sister Norma Jo Sagnibene.

Funeral service for Kenny Thompson will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Johnson, Bro. Jeff Bethard, and Bro. Lynn Hitt officiating, interment to follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
