Chester Lee Martin, Jr.

Chester's earthly body will suffer no more pain. On Wednesday, June 19, 2024 our Precious Lord took Chester's hand and lead him home.

 Chester was born August 7, 1943, in Gilmer, Texas, to Chester Lee and Addie Zell Butler Martin. He was a life time resident of Diana, Texas, a Baptist, having been saved at the early age of eleven and baptized in the First Baptist Church of Diana where he and his wife, Martha, were married. In their later years they would become part of the family of New Hope Baptist Church in Ore City, TX.

 He loved sports having played football, basketball, track and baseball at New Diana High School where he graduated in 1961. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1965. He worked for 48 years in the accounting department at Lone Star Steel Company and U. S. Steel. He served on the New Diana ISD Board of Education for 18 years.

 Chester married Martha Eva Martin on September 11, 1965. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. Together they had two sons, Stephen Craig and Jason Scott. He was also blessed with a Grandson, Stephen Scott.

 He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jason Scott Martin; father and mother, Chester and Addie Zell Martin; his Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Floyd and Eleanor Martin and Brother-in-law, Jimmy Eisel.

 Survivors include his wife, Martha; son, Stephen Craig Martin; and grandson, Stephen Scott Martin all of Diana; Sister-in-law, Mary Frances Eisel of Addison, PA.; and nephews, Clint Jones of Addison, PA. and Dallas Jones of La Mesa, CA.

 Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Diana, Texas.

 Services for Chester Lee Martin, Jr. 80, of Diana, will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Croley Funeral Home in Diana, with  Pastor Tony Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Mattox Cemetery, Diana, Texas. Arrangements are by Croley Funeral Home in Diana.
