Christopher “Chad” McCoy, 41, of Diana, passed away on July 25, 2026.

Born on December 1, 1984, In Longview, Texas, Chad was the cherished son of Flynn McCoy and Shannon Elwell. He was a proud father of his two girls, Kinzley Ann McCoy and Chailey Layne McCoy, a loyal brother and a dear friend to many.

Chad was a man who worked hard and loved even harder. He was the kind of person who showed his love through his actions, by being there, lending a helping hand and doing whatever needed to be done. When he was able to work, he was a certified welder or could be found operating a crane, a trade that reflected his determination and pride in a job well done. At heart, he was a true hometown boy who loved the country life and enjoyed spending his time feeding and working with cattle. He found peace in the simple things, being surrounded by the land and the family he loved. Chad was proud of his roots, and those roots ran deep.

Those who knew Chad best hold tightly to the memories of the man he was and the life he lived. His later years brought challenges that changed the course of his journey, but they never erased the person he had always been. He carried the weight of life with quiet strength and resilience, and though his journey was not always easy, he remained a man with a good heart who cared deeply for people he loved. His family holds tightly to the memories of Chad as a man who was hardworking, funny, loyal and full of life. Chad left an impact on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. They also honor the strength and resilience he showed while facing the difficulties that came his way.

Above all, Chad will be remembered as a good man and a father who loved his girls deeply. Though he is now resting in a better place, the world will miss him, and his absence will be felt by all who loved him.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hershel William “HW” McCoy and Amanda “Louise” McCoy, Lynold “Butch” Larkin, and his aunt, Sharon “Renee” McCoy.

Chad is survived by his daughters, Kinzley Ann McCoy and Chailey Layne McCoy; his parents William “Flynn” McCoy (Crystal) and Shannon Elwell (Kevin); his grandmother, Marjorie Thieman (Edwin); his brothers, Jonathan “Chance” McCoy (Cayla), Morgan McCoy (Morgan), Zachary Coleman (Ashlea), Kendall Elwell (Lauren), Macie McCoy, Tyler Ray (Madison), Kearsten Clark (Drew) and Gabie Ray. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

His greatest legacy lives on in his girls, who will always carry a piece of him in their hearts.

Services will be Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Diana with visitation from 2-4pm and a memorial service at 4pm.
