Clarence Leon Fatherree, born on February 12, 1938, peacefully passed away on February 26, 2026. His departure leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. As we gather to honor his memory, we remember a life that was rich in love, family, and enduring kindness.
Leon's presence was a steadfast comfort and an unwavering source of strength to those fortunate enough to call him family. He was a devoted father to his number one daughter, Darla Fatherree Ferguson and husband Ronnie; and two beloved grandsons, Jake Ferguson and Cody Ferguson. He is also survived by the joy of his life Hadley Ferguson, a great-granddaughter that brought light to his days. As well as his other daughter, Sherrie Smalling.
Alongside his immediate family, Leon's roots connected deeply with his siblings who remain by his side in remembrance: Curtis Fatherree and Willie Fatherree, his brothers whose lives were intertwined with his through shared memories and lasting affection; and Jean Brice and Maxine Pierce, his sisters, whose presence underscored the strength of family bonds that never waver.
We also remember those family members who have gone before Leon, whose memories live on: his father Clarence Fatherree and mother Thelma Ann Fatherree, who gave him life and shaped his early days; brothers J.W. Fatherree, Merk Fatherree, and Charles Neal Fatherree; and sister Mildred Milligan. Their spirits are interwoven with his, forming the tapestry of a family bound beyond this life.
To celebrate and honor Leon's life, a visitation will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas, on April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. This tender gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to share their stories and find solace together. Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at 11:00 AM, continuing until noon, at the same location—401 N Center Street, Gladewater, TX 75647—where loved ones will pay tribute to a man whose gentle spirit touched so many lives.
Clarence Leon Fatherree’s journey through this world was marked by love, the nurturing of his family, and the quiet strength he exhibited in all things. Though he has passed from our sight, the echo of his kindness remains, a lasting reminder of a life well-lived and a heart deeply treasured. He will be profoundly missed yet forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
