Corbitt Lee Puckett

Corbitt Lee Puckett, 76, of East Mountain went to be with Jesus and joined the Heavenly choir on February 7, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1949, in Gilmer, Texas.

Corbitt graduated from East Mountain High School in 1968. He married Katherine Elizabeth Johns on October 11, 1968. He is now reunited with her in the presence of the Lord.

Corbitt never met a stranger and would talk to just about anybody. He took every opportunity he could to share Jesus to anyone that would listen. His greatest gift was his voice. We especially loved to hear him sing, “I’m Feeling Fine”, “Goodbye World, Goodbye” and “Roses Will Bloom Again”. The list could go on and on. In addition to singing, he also wrote several songs, “You Will Never Walk Alone” and He’s In the Midst of the Storm”. Corbitt was one of the longest tenured members of First Assembly of God in Gladewater. He was a member there for over 50 years. He served as Song Leader and Board Member for many years as well. Corbitt loved the Lord and that was evident in everything he did.

Corbitt was a machinist by trade and enjoyed working on cars. He had a knack for buying cars for next to nothing, rebuilding their engines and then selling them for a nice profit.

In additional to his wife, Katherine, Corbitt was preceded in death by his parents F.R. and Dorothy Puckett, and his brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Don and Marilyn Puckett.

Corbitt is survived by his 3 children, Allen Puckett of Dallas, Karla and Matthew Byrd of Gladewater and Wendy and James Snyder of East Mountain. The absolute joy of his life were his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa Corbitt”, Tori, Kadi (Dylan), Rayne (Daniel), Nick, Justice and Jacob. He also had 5 great grandchildren, Archie, Ivy, Malachi, Willow and Isla. He was blessed to have numerous bonus grandchildren that loved him deeply. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Rev. Terrill Pearson.

We will gather for a time of visitation at 12pm on Saturday, February 14th and his Celebration of Life at 1pm at the First Assembly of God in Gladewater at 110 US Hwy 80 East, Gladewater, Texas 75647. Reverend Terrill Pearson and Allen Puckett will officiate. The service will be streamed on Facebook live at the First Assembly of God -Gladewater page.
