David Eugene Shaw was born July 6, 1942, in Gilmer, Texas, to James Alfred Shaw and Nellie B. Jones Shaw and went to his Heavenly home on June 24, 2026. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Cherokee Cemetery with Brother Madison Caffey and Brother Paul Chandler officiating.

David married Ann Hooks Shaw on December 7, 1963, and she preceded him in death. He retired from Etex Telephone Coop. in 1998 after 22 years of service. David was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and especially loved his role as “Granddaddy”. He loved sitting on the porch telling stories about “the good old days” and those stories never got old, no matter how many times you heard them. He also had a passion for bluegrass music and classic cars which he also loved to share with others.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, his parents, and brother, Robert Shaw.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Bond, daughters, Lisa Spencer (Tom), Cathy Mullins (Chase), and Staci Shaw; grandchildren, Erin Spencer, Tommy Spencer (Emily), Kelsie Curtis (Derrick), Elizabeth Mullins (Will), Andrew Mullins (Mackenzie), Johnathon Elmore (Ashley) and Bradley Elmore; great grandchildren, Ira Curtis, Karra Curtis, Elowyn Curtis, Josie Elmore, Ryder Colvin, Carlee Jo Colvin and Maggie May Spencer as well as many other family members and friends.
