Debbie Kay Wilson, a beacon of love and light, will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched as she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born on May 22, 1956, in Gladewater, Texas, to James and Emma Jean Philpot, Debbie was, from the very start, someone special.
To her husband, Donnie, Debbie was everything—a partner in every adventure and a safe haven through life’s storms. Together, they shared a love that was unwavering and deep, a foundation that shaped their family and every life they encountered. Debbie was the steady voice that offered reassurance, the gentle guide that taught her children love, courage, and the beauty of being present.
As a mother, she had this incredible gift of making everyone feel seen. Her love was quiet yet powerful, resonating far beyond mere words. She had an innate ability to celebrate the joys of those around her as if they were her own, and it was this love that her children will carry with them always.
Debbie was also known for her adventurous spirit—she loved to travel, explore the wonders of nature, and indulge in delicious cuisines. Fashion was her canvas; she lit up any room with her vibrant outfits, always perfectly coordinated. Her fun-loving energy and warmth were magnetic, making friends wherever she went, especially in her beloved church community, where she took an active role and will be deeply missed.
Debbie is preceded in death by her father James Philpot, her grandson Ayden, grandmothers Erma and Kate, and grandfathers John and William.
But Debbie leaves behind even more love in her surviving husband and soulmate, Donald; her daughters, Rebecca Wilson and Candace Gibson (and her husband, Jameson); and her adoring grandchildren, Jake, Lily, Abby, and Andrew. She is survived by her mother, Emma Jean Philpot, her brothers Gary (Jackie) Philpot and John (Michele) Philpot, brothers-in-law David (Glenda) Wilson and Vaun (Sharon) Henry, along with a treasure trove of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial service in Debbie’s honor on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11 AM at East Mountain Baptist Church. As we celebrate Debbie’s life, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives and the endless love she shared so freely. She may be gone, but her spirit will forever light our paths.
