Obituary

Debra Kay Cupit Plaxco was born August 12, 1952, in Longview, TX and passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital.

Debi was preceded in death by her husband Les Plaxco; parents John W. “Buster” Cupit and Joyce Heim Cupit; and brother Guy William Cupit. She is survived by her children: Robbie Wood and wife BJ, Joey Tesch and husband Jeff, and Cody Plaxco; her grandchildren Emmarose, Gunner, Oliver, and Milo; sister Terri Cupit Werner and husband Alan. Debi is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and one great-grand niece.

Debi graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1970 where she was a cheerleader. She was an avid golfer and managed Longview Country Club for many years. In her early years, she was a ranked amateur golfer in the state of Texas. She loved watching the Texas Rangers and was a dedicated fan.

Debi was a beautiful soul and a loving mother who was adored by friends and family. She is in the arms of Jesus now. Go rest high on that mountain, Mom/Mimi, Aunt Debi. We love you and will miss you very, very much.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Croley Funeral Home, 401 N. Center Street, Gladewater, TX 75647 at 10 o’clock. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the John W. "Buster" Cupit Scholarship with the Kilgore College Foundation, 1100 Broadway, Kilgore, Texas 75662 or to St. Jude.
