Deloris Arlene Hix

Deloris Arlene (Pettis) Hix, a devoted homemaker, passed away on November 2, 2023, just four days before her 93rd birthday. Deloris was born in Armstrong, Iowa on November 6, 1930, to her loving parents, Eloia Henry and Vera May Pettis. Throughout her life, she exemplified the qualities of hard work and dedication as a wife and mother.

Deloris's journey in the workforce began when her daughters were in high school. She worked as a cook at a cafe in Anoka, MN. Later on, she joined MSA Insurance, where she contributed her skills and expertise in the office.

Aside from her career accomplishments, Deloris had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She found solace and happiness in the presence of flowers and enjoyed nurturing them with care. In her leisure time, she would engage in lively board games and frequently hosted friends for dinners and card parties. Above all else, Deloris cherished precious moments spent with her beloved family. Each summer, she dedicated herself to preserving the bountiful harvest from her garden by canning and freezing fruits and vegetables. The family moved many times due to Cliff's work on the railroad, each time she made the necessary changes and made new friends. They will always cherish the memories they made at the cabin on the lake in Minnesota.

Admired by all who knew her, Deloris's heartfelt kindness touched the lives of many. Her unyielding work ethic and commitment to her loved ones were truly inspiring. Family was an integral part of Deloris's life; she shared an incredible bond with those closest to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Clifford Marvin Hix, they spent 74 years together, sisters; Lois (Pettis) Bullins and Mae Pettis, daughter; Marilyn Vera (Lee) Jenison and great granddaughter; Coraline Christie.

Deloris's passing leaves behind a legacy filled with love and devotion. She is survived by her daughters; Bonita Deloris Holden of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; Beverly Raye Saxon of Pineville, WY; Susan Louise (Bob) Turnblad of Minneapolis, MN; Lori Ellen (Don) Pasqualino of Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada; sister; Shirley (Pettis) Anderson of Brainerd, MN; and brother; Orville Lavern Pettis of Toms River, NJ.

Deloris's memory will live on eternally through her 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who were blessed to have experienced her unwavering love and affection.

A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Deloris at Grace Communion Church in Big Sandy, Texas. The service will take place Sunday,  November 12, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jerome Ellard officiating.
