Diane Marie Steele

Diane Marie Lopez Steele, 69, of Big Sandy, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2024. Diane was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Russell and Angelia Lopez. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from East Detroit High School. 

Diane lived her life for others. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She was a homemaker while her four children were young; she also homeschooled them. She then worked 7 years as manager of Hammons Emporium in Stockton, Missouri. After retirement, she moved to Big Sandy to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She also was a substitute teacher with the Big Sandy school system. Diane was deeply devoted to her Father in heaven and spent much of her time in prayer for others.

Diane married Randy Steele on May 18, 1980, and they would have celebrated 44 years together next month. Diane was a devoted and loving wife and mother. 

Diane is survived by her brother, Russell Lido; her husband, Randy; her daughter, Mandi Mischnick; her sons, Brek and Shance Steele, and 7 grandchildren: Jake, Brance, Geneva, Gage, Keira, Beckett, and Giselle. 

Diane is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rosemary Lucente; and her son, Erid Steele.

Funeral services will be provided at 10 a.m. April 21, 2024, by Croley Funeral Home, 602 East Blackbourn Street, Hawkins, Texas, 75765. Reception will follow at Hawkins Senior Community Center, 301 Lynch St. All are welcome to attend. Diane will be buried next to her son, Erid, at Pankey Cemetery in Stockton, Missouri.
