Donald Ray Dunn

Donald Ray Dunn went to be with his Lord and Savior and family members on February 27, 2024 in Longview, Texas. Ray was born on August 14, 1933, in rural Rusk County, Texas to Donald Ross Dunn and Mattie Adell (Young) Dunn. He grew up in Henderson, Orange, and Dallas, and worked as a paperboy prior to graduation from Forrest Avenue High School in Dallas. Meeting the love of his life, Ray married Patsy Crow in 1951. They were inseparable and they both would say that they were like two peas in a pod. They enjoyed fifty-eight wonderful years together before her passing in 2009.

Shortly after marriage, Ray joined the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean war as a propeller aircraft mechanic at Whidbey Island, Washington and Hutchinson, Kansas. He took much pride in having served his country. After military service, Ray graduated from East Texas State University going through on the G.I. bill and worked as a cost accountant in Waxahachie, Sherman, and Tyler. He dearly loved working with Patsy on their farm near Winnsboro in Wood County. Together they enjoyed square dancing with the local dancing club.

Ray is survived by his son, Michael Dunn, and wife Ann of Longview; daughter, Janet Moore, and husband, Chuck of Bartlett, Tennessee; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members who will greatly miss him.

Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patsy Ann (Crow) Dunn, his parents, his brother, and his sister.

He will be interred beside Patsy at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer with a graveside memorial service to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 am.
