Donald "Don" Thomas

Oct 14, 1948 — Oct 14, 2026

Don Thomas, age 78, passed away on October 14th, 2026.

Don was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Raymond and Mary Thomas. He grew up in Wichita Falls and was in his first year of college when his country called on him to serve. He was deployed to Vietnam and later Fort Hood as an MP and narcotic dog handler, achieving the rank of sergeant. After discharge from the military, he went on to a career in law enforcement and private security; in later life became an ordained minister and tried his hand at a plethora of different entrepreneurial endeavors. Don was an incurable bookworm, a person who was curious and informed on a wide variety of subjects, a talented artist and a faithful student of scripture.

In 2014 he suffered a spinal cord injury that left him a quadriplegic, but despite his disability he never lost his cheerful smile, his calm and patient presence, or his lucky hand at bingo.

Don will be remembered as a steadfast anchor for his family and extended community, as a selfless giver who was always the first to volunteer, and as a man who was unwavering in his faith in God and love for Yeshua as his savior.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Linda; his children, James, Phillip and Abigail; and stepchildren, Logan, Alvis and Taylor; his 14 grandchildren; his sister Cecelia and twin brother Ronald.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary; his wife Debbie; his brother-in-law Dennis and his niece Marcia.
