Dorothy Joann (Attaway) Dixon

Dorothy Dixon, 79, of Gilmer, passed away on February 13, 2023 in Longview, Texas.  She was born on March 7, 1943, to the late Euless Grant and Lena Mae (Kennedy) Attaway.

Dorothy spent her life as a homemaker, raising her five children.  She had a special love for her dogs.

Those family members left to cherish her memory include her son, Terry Dixon; daughters, Catherine Dixon, Sandy and her husband, Billy Lewers; grandchildren, Herbert Hobgood and his partner, Thomas Wells, Justin and his wife, Emily Hobgood, Jennifer Lewers; great-grandchildren, Chloie Chambers, Donavyn Chambers, Harper Hobgood, Johnathon Hobgood; brother, LeRoy and his wife Barbara Attaway; her extended family members, JD and Debbie Lewers, as well many other extended family members.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Euless and Lena Attaway; son, Billy Dixon, Jr.; daughter Barbara Hernandez; grandson, Johnathon Lewers; brother, Buddy Attaway; and sisters, Mary Bearden, Billie Attaway and Rita Marks.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dixon will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.  Following the services, Dorothy will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
