Ms. Goolsby was born December 11, 1936, in Pine Mills, Texas, to Harry and Fern Hall Burns. She attended Hawkins High School, Tyler Junior College and Texas Woman’s University with a focus on education and home economics. She was a homemaker and employed at Hawkins ISD as a substitute teacher for many years. Dovie was a member of the Mineola Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years and volunteered often with the Salvation Army. She loved spending time with her family and devoted countless hours to reading the Book of Mormon. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively with her husband during his 20 year military career.
