Edward Ray Steward, 68, of Longview, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2022.  He was born on July 29, 1954, in Henderson, Kentucky to the late Edward Roy and Mary Jo (Scott) Steward.  Buck, as he was known to everyone, married Jeanne Kay Moore on July 22, 1986, in New London, Connecticut.

Buck joined the US Navy in 1973 and served for 22 ½ years as a Navy Corpsman, where he served in multiple theaters, including the Red Sea, Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea.  During his time in the Navy, Buck received several honors, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, The Battle “E” Ribbon, The Navy Achievement Medal and The Enlisted Submarine Warfare Insignia.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Jeanne Kay Steward; his sons, Eric John and his wife Kelly Lynn Aspen Steward and James Allen White; daughter, Megan Therese and her Husband Tanner James Miller; grandchildren, Caroline Marie Mayo, Brayden Matthew Steward, Bodie Hiatt Steward, Tanner James Miller, Jr. and Makenna Paige Miller.

Following Buck’s wishes, cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered at Folley Beach, South Carolina at a later date.
