Graveside services for Geraldine Hinote Gorman, age 91, of Big Sandy, Texas will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy, Texas. Brother Bill Weaver will officiate the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation one hour before the service, also at Chilton Cemetery.

Geraldine passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, following a brief illness. The arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.

Born to Newton and Curlie Hinote on July 31, 1934, in Walton County, Florida, Geraldine was a dedicated homemaker. She devoted more than 30 years of her career to Big Sandy ISD, working in the school cafeteria. Geraldine was especially known for her homemade rolls, which she prepared weekly and for every special event at the school. She took great joy in feeding and caring for the children at the school.

Geraldine is survived by her two daughters, Mary Lingle and husband Richard, and Brenda Murrell and husband Joe. Her legacy includes her granddaughter, Sarah Jones and husband Jeff, grandson, Thomas Murrell, and great-grandson, Johnny Jones, all of Big Sandy, Texas. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Gorman was preceded in death by her husband, “Buddy” William Boyd Gorman, Jr. as well as her parents and her brother Tommy Harold Hinote, Sr.

The pallbearers for the service will be Joe Murrell, Jeff Jones, Kevin McWilliams, Charles Lingle, Dale Nelson, and Rickey Moreland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Geraldine’s memory to The First Baptist Church of Big Sandy, P O Box 658, Big Sandy, Texas 75755, or to a charity of choice.
