Harold Edward “Vick” was born on June 30, 1950, in Texarkana Arkansas and was the fourth child of seven born to Albert and Bernice Vick. He was a man who lived life with a big heart, a strong work ethic, and a love for his many friends and family. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, and friend who truly never met a stranger.

As a young adult, Vick spent about 10 years on the rodeo circuit, riding bulls and embracing the adventure that came with it. He brought that same determination and strong work ethic into the next chapter of his life working as an Iron Worker and in the Bail Bond business. Vick spent much of his career in telecommunications, eventually becoming a supervisor where he was known for being fair and straightforward, and the men who worked for him greatly respected him. He worked hard, expected others to do the same, and was never afraid to speak his mind.

One of the things Vick loved most was cooking. He took great pride in his food, especially his chili and his brisket, both of which earned him awards. Family and friends knew that when he cooked, there was going to be something worth talking about. Over the years, he even owned and operated a couple of small cafés, giving him another opportunity to share his love of food and people.

Golf was another great love of Vick’s, a passion that began when he was just a young boy. He would often make his way to the local golf course, hoping to be the first caddie out. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong love of golf and a desire to learn everything he could about the game. As the years went by, Vick became an avid golfer, and one of his proudest moments was becoming a Red Dog. He especially enjoyed playing at Holly Lake Ranch, where he and his team proudly took first place in several tournaments. Golf remained a cherished part of his life for many years, creating countless memories, friendships, and plenty of good times along the way. And, as Vick would say, he knew how to “drive for show and putt for dough.”

He took great pride in his home and especially in keeping his yard looking just right. His hard work earned him both Yard of the Month and Yard of the Year many times. He took those accomplishments seriously and, true to his personality, he was never shy about sharing his opinions with anyone whose yard didn’t quite meet his standards.

And that was Vick—blunt, honest, and always to the point. You never had to wonder where he stood. He said what he thought, and he said it plainly. But underneath that straightforward personality was a man who loved people and loved having someone to talk to. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and he rarely met a stranger.

In the weeks leading up to his passing, he shared that he was ready to be with the Lord. Vick passed peacefully on the afternoon of August 20th. He was a loving husband to his wife, Peggy Vick, and a proud Father and Papa. He is survived by his daughters, Shannon Goode and Andrea Farar; son, Bryan Sanders and wife Gayla; and grandchildren, Erika, Ethan, Houston, Cody, and Lexi.

He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda Emory, Kathleen Harrison, and Jeanette Stone; and his brothers, Steve Vick and wife Jill and Larry Vick and wife Julie.

He was preceded in death by his son, Derek Vick; brother, Jimmy Vick; parents, Albert Vick and Bernice Ward; and brothers-in-law, Dale Emory and Paul Harrison.

He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, memories, laughter, and love. He was one of a kind—and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held at Summit Heights Fellowship Church in Holly Lake on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 1PM with a visitation being 1 hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Holly Tree Cemetery.
