Henry Curtis Hester

Henry Curtis Hester was born on October 9th, 1949 in Tyler,TX to Johnny and Bernice Hester. He passed away in the early morning on January 19th, 2023 at his residence after a battle with cancer.

Curtis, also known as Grandaddy and "Fuzzy", grew up in Hawkins, Texas where he graduated in 1968. He spent the majority of his childhood discovering and being a part of nature, which he continued throughout his life. In 1969 he married his high school sweetheart Frances Bowden Hester. Together for the last 53 years they have built a beautiful loving family. Curtis' hobby and passion was photography of nature and the great outdoors.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father Johnny J. Hester, mother Bernice Strickland Hester, brother James Hester, and brother-in-law Todd Gibbs.

He is survived by siblings George Hester and Mary of Hammond, LA, Peggy Hester Irby and Connie of Jacksonville, TX, Jean Hester of Albuquerque, NM, Jacque Gibbs of Longview, brother and sister in law Terry and Brenda Kaster and family of Union Grove, sister in law Linda Goza and family of Union Grove and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Curtis' greatest love is the family he created and is survived by, his wife Frances Bowden Hester, two children Amy Prewit of White Oak and Hank Hester of Longview, grandchildren Cody Hester and Elysia of White Oak, JC Prewit and Alexis of Tyler, Taylor Hester Moore and Collin of Longview, Victoria Hester Willoughby and Zachary of Longview, Gracie Hester of Longview, and six great grandchildren Gunner Hester, Kenzley Hester, Paisley Prewit, Blakeley Prewit, River Willoughby, and Lincoln Moore.

A celebration of life will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the evening as a come and go gathering.   In lieu of flowers Curtis has requested any donations be made to the local Bill Womack Cancer Care Memorial Foundation at 903-235-0830.

A very special thank you and appreciation from Curtis and family goes out to Heartsway Hospice, and specifically his amazing nurse Stephanie Murphy. ·
