Howard Glass

Graveside services for Howard Glass, 100, of Dallas and formerly of Gilmer, will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 2 P.M. at the Gilmer City Cemetery with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Born on June 21, 1914, in Timpson, Texas, to the late Pete and Lavinia Mitchell Glass, he died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. A highlight of his career was superintendent over construction of the Naval Air Training School at Norman, Oklahoma. He was also superintendent over many commercial buildings in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He is survived by two sons, Sam Glass and Robert Glass, both of Dallas; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris F. Glass; and several siblings. The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 P.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
