James Ferrell Burchwell, Sr.

James Ferrell Burchwell Sr. 79, of Hawkins, TX passed away on November 25th, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home.

James Ferrell Burchwell was born on December 30th, 1944, in Floyd County Kentucky to Otis and Mrytle Burchwell. James is proceeded in death by his parents and sisters Roberta Haines and Cleta Richen and brother Larry Burchwell. He is survived by his wife Susan Burchwell. Children Jim Burchwell Jr, Jill Koonce, Audrey Mensch and husband Monty. His grandchildren Austin Lemley, Brooke Raymond, Blake Raymond and Kacey Mensch.

James moved from Kentucky to Mason Ohio when he was 8. He graduated from high school and started his family there. He moved to Texas in 1981. James spent the majority of his career in the trucking business industry as a class A diesel mechanic and an over the road truck driver. He loved rebuilding old cars and trucks as well as carpentry projects. The outdoors was his church. He was and will always be loved and respected by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins, TX on Friday December 8th at 11:00am.
