James "Jim" Edward Bounds

James (Jim) Edward Bounds, 72, of Holly Lake Ranch passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Tyler.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Holly Brook Baptist Church in Hawkins, Texas with Pastor David LaFlore officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services.  Interment will follow at Holly Tree Cemetery in Holly Lake Ranch.

Jim was born December 25, 1950 in Carthage, Texas to the late James Artie Bounds, Jr. and Gloria Fern Johnson Bounds.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  Jim had retired from L3 Raytheon where he worked as an Electronic Technician.  He enjoyed working with his hands and was always thinking and learning.  Jim was a humble person and was devoted to his family; especially his children and grandchildren whom he adored.  He cherished the time he spent with them; teaching, laughing and visiting.  Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather; described as patient, gentle and kind hearted.  Jim’s wonderful spirit lives on in all those he leaves behind.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Bounds; four children James Clayton Bounds and wife Shea, Bobbi Jo Rowland and husband Travis, Jessica Glover and husband John and Angela Evon Barnes and husband Ben; two step children Jennifer Candela and husband Chris, and Brian Johnson; two sisters Chris Miller and husband Rick and Ann Washburn and husband Kenneth; brother Joey Bounds; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Artie Bounds, Jr. and Gloria Fern Johnson Bounds; daughter Jamie Gay Bounds and two grandchildren Jacob Kane Humphrey and Jordan Jenay Humphrey.
