James Scott Johnston

James S. Johnston age 78 of Gladewater, Texas passed from this life in the early morning hours of January 28, 2024 with his wife Penny Jo, friend Lori Beth, and friend Jerry 'Cuz' Wilson by his side. He fought a good fight. He passed from service related conditions. James served proudly in the Army during Vietnam era. He served in Vietnam in 1968 during the TET Offensive.

He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years Penny Jo, his beloved dog Sammy Jo. 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He served on the Starrville Friendship Water board for over 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, the DAV, and the VVA. Carry on soldier until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Wounded Warriors in his name.
