James Mark Singer

James Mark Singer, 70, of Gladewater, TX, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 27th, 2025, in Tyler, TX. He was born on July 31st, 1955, in Miami, Florida, to Ivor and Dorothy Singer.

Known to all as Jim, he was truly the life of the party, bringing laughter and joy wherever he went. Jim graduated from high school and married his high school sweetheart, Marian, in August 1976. Jim worked on one of his first jobs at Walt Disney World.

He and his bride moved from Florida to Houston and eventually opened a fire restoration business. After 26 years in Houston, Jim and his family moved to Northeast Texas.

Jim’s passion for helping others started as a firefighter in Seminole County, FL, and continued as a volunteer for the Winona, TX, fire department.

While in Texas, he continued his education in Emergency Medical Services at Tyler Junior College, earning his EMT certification. All the while, working as a dispatcher at Champion EMS in Gladewater, TX. Jim didn’t stop there and pursued a Commercial Driver's License and, true to his love of adventure, drove over a million miles across the United States.

Jim utilized this time on the open road to share his passion for history and love of adventure with his children. Building in them invaluable lessons about working hard, loving others, and filling life with laughter.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marian, of 49 and ½ years of marriage. And their children, Allison (Singer) Shelton and her husband Richard. Lauren (Singer) Loftus and her husband, Shawn. Alexander Singer and his bride, Molly. Austin Singer and his bride, Amber. His 11 grandchildren are Ava (Shelton) Carter, Margaret Shelton, Katilyn Shelton, Lorelai Loftus, Adaline Loftus, Everly Loftus, Benjamin Singer, Montana Singer, Sage Singer, Sophie Singer, and Dakota Singer.

His brothers, Randy Singer and his bride, Kathy; Ivor Singer and his bride, Mary Scott; and his sister, Linda Singer Maynard Black. And many nieces, nephews, and friends he would call family.

A loving graveside service for the family will be held at Gladewater Memorial Park cemetery on Friday, January 2nd, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local volunteer fire department.
