Our Brother, James Ray Walker passed away December 10, 2022 at home due to a long illness. He was a Vietnam veteran. He served on the U.S.S. John McCain and did two tours of Vietnam.
He was born in Houston, Texas on October 21, 1953 to Benjamin Franklin Walker II and Barbara Lou Thomas. The family moved to East Texas when he was seven years old. He went to Pine Tree Schools before enlisting in the U.S Navy. He was a proud veteran. Here he learned to hunt and fish. Fishing was his favorite thing to do.
James is survived by four sisters, Mona Walker of Longview, Texas; Tamara Dries of San Antonio, Texas; Vickie Counts of Georgia; Patricia Little of Oklahoma. He is also survived by three brothers, Gary Dee Garner of Longview, Texas; Gordon Van Garner of Hawkins, Texas; Robert Eugene Garner of Marshall, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
James was very loved and he will be missed by all.
Graveside services for James will be held at the Friendship Cemetery in Gladewater on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
