James Woodard

Mr. James Franklin Woodard, 79, of Gilmer passed away on January 18, 2013, in Tyler. Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel "Gilmer with James Young officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Woodard was born on January 4, 1934, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to Samuel and Fannie Franklin Woodard. He served in the U. S Army and the U. S. Navy. Mr. Woodard was a member of Cherokee Missionary Baptist Church, a Mason and the VP of Comcast before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Peggy Woodard on May 27, 2012. Mr. Woodard is survived by his sons, Connie Gale Woodard and wife, Glenna of Aken, SC, James Clifford Woodard of Gilmer and David Hanson of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
