John Dudley Slater Gladewater -- No services are planned for John Dudley Slater, 55, of Longview. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Born on November 7, 1956, he died on Monday, July 9, 2012. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and an oil field mechanic for 30 years. He is survived by his father, Dean Slater of Haskell; wife, Kelly Slater of Longview; sons, Carle Slater and John Slater, both of Longview; 2 daughters, Meghan Biddle of Big Sandy and Amber Slater of Longview; 12 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Patrick Slater of Haskell. No visitation is scheduled.
