John Michael McWhorter Jr.

John Michael “Mikey” McWhorter Jr., age 41, formerly of Gladewater, passed away on November 1, 2023, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mikey was born on July 18, 1982, to John McWhorter Sr. and Lynda Edwards.

Mikey graduated from Gladewater High School in 2000. He was a huge Gladewater Bears fan. He had a unique personality and never met a stranger.

Mikey was preceded in death by a brother; James McWhorter, grandparents; Jim and Betty Edwards and Peggy Lee, special father; Tom Allen, and great uncle; Tom Edwards.

Mikey is survived by his mother, Lynda Edwards Allen; father, John Michael Sr. “Johnny”; brother, Jayson Marc McWhorter; special stepbrothers, Tommy and Bobby Allen; uncle and aunt, Jay and Nancy Edwards; great aunt, Earlene Edwards; cousins, Colt and Samuel Edwards; and a several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life for Mikey will be held on Saturday November 18, 2023, at 2PM at the Treasure Church in White Oak.

The family has requested any donations to be made to the Treasure Church in Mikey’s name.
